Alpha & Omega

Louise Stratulat

How many times have we heard the phrase “that is not ‘the be and end all’”? Or, “Well, he thinks he is ‘the be and end all’.” How often has this been spoken of a thought, idea, concept, or even of a person’s idea of themselves?

The phrase conveys the idea of completeness; you need no other one; anything else is less than perfect; it is something that cannot be improved on. When spoken of a person, it has the meaning of someone who thinks they have all the answers, and all solutions come through them.

Jesus is the only one who is “the be and end all”…the beginning and the end. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith — the Lord”. Revelation 1:8

People have always been curious about who Jesus is. In Matthew 11:3 John the Baptist says, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” It is interesting to note that even John, the Baptist sent his disciples to ask Jesus if he was the One or if they needed to look for another.

In Luke 10:18, Jesus said, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.” He was there! He is the only one who has the right to use this title. Alpha indicates that “He is the one who brought all things into existence, and Omega that He is the one who will bring them to their determined end”. CWBS dictionary.

He declares that He does not change either, as seen in Malachi 3:6. We can depend on Him.

He alone is the “be all and end all”. Whatever we are experiencing, know that He is the Alpha and Omega in all things. We can have confidence in Him.
