Great High Priest
Louise Stratulat
Jesus is our great High Priest, He is different than any other! The priests of that time were of the Levitical system, and had to be continually replaced as they would die off. They also made sacrifices daily, and people would go to them for confession.
The book of Hebrews explores four ways that Jesus is different from them. Jesus is of the Melchizedek priesthood rather than the Levitical system. He through His death and resurrection He has the power of an endless life. He never needs to be replaced! He was also the final sacrifice. He offered himself once and for all. Jesus is also our mediator, we do not need to go to another and confess our sins. These four truths show only a taste of who Jesus really is!
“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need!” Hebrews 4:14-16
“Let us draw near, let us hold fast” Hebrews 10:22-24
We are encouraged to have faith.
We are encouraged to draw near.
We are to come boldly into His presence (to the throne) to receive mercy and help.
Jesus is superior! Come boldly to Him right now with your need!
